Japanese Chili and Lime Bitters

These are our spiciest bitters with back notes of citrus. The chilis we use are spicy and smoky . They pair wonderfully with tequila and mezcal, they add a nice kick to a bloody mary and give a hint of spice to rye whiskey and scotch. Scroll down for recipes.

Recommended Pairings: Syrups+Shrubs: Hibiscus Syrup, Jalapeño, lime+Cilantro Syrup, Lemon Basil Syrup, Tiki Thai Syrup, Spicy Ginger Beer and Blood Orange+Ginger Shrub

"Blood and Fire"

2 oz Knob Creek Rye

 

1/2 oz 18.21 Blood orange+Ginger Shrub

1/2 oz Aperol

10 drops 18.21 Japanese Chili+Lime Bitters

Shake well over ice and strain into cocktail glass with an orange twist

 

"Hot Tamale"

2 oz Reposado Tequila

3/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur

1/2 oz Hibiscus Syrup

1/2 oz lime juice

12 drops 18.21 Japanese Chili+Lime bitters

 

"Japanese Mule"

2 oz Japanese Whiskey

1 oz 18.21 Ginger Beer Syrup

10 drops 18.21 Japanese Chili+Lime Bitters

Shake well over ice and strain into a rocks glass. Splash with soda water and garnish with a lime slice

 

"Hot Tamale"

2 oz Repasado Tequila

3/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino 

1/2 oz 18.21 Hibiscus Syrup

1/2 oz lime juice

12 drops 18.21 Japanese Chili+Lime Bitters
